Room to Read in collaboration with the NRC has donated 20,000 books donated to schools across the country in response to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call of getting children to read for meaning.
On 17 August 2020 the NRC team visited Kholwani Primary School in Soweto to hand over cool hampers to the school's grade 7 learners who won the Youth Day 2020 reading Competition.
The minister of basic education recognises the NRC and the important influence women have in the development of the reading skills of children.
